The Journey
There’s long been a misconception that Singapore is extremely dull and boring. People think that there’s nothing to do in Singapore, nowhere to go. But I do not believe in that. Being a visual artist, I travel all around Singapore to get inspiration for my work. Some artist travel the world, but I believe there is more to Singapore than most believe.
Some estates are built in unique ways with certain HDB colours being available only in those estate.
I want to showcase the colors of Singapore in my artwork, and I believe this would help people (not just tourists but locals as well) appreciate Singapore for her beauty.
The Challenge
This biggest work of my career to date, this exhibition is going to keep me from taking up other paid projects for 6 months.
I hope to be able to operate my entire exhibition on a budget of $1,500 per month for the next 6 months. This includes, studio bills, art materials and paid interns.
The goal
In order to begin work immediately, I would need a budget to work with. Besides a cup of $0.60 coffee and a $2 packet of chicken rice per meal, none of this money is going into my bank account. I would also need to travel around Singapore in order to embark on this project and begin my paintings. I would not be able to stay in my studio to do this project.
As I do not have a car, I would need to rent vehicles to drive around in order to paint the best views. I would also need to pay for rental at SAM after my works are ready. All this calculate to a total of $10,000, not inclusive of the cost detailed in my ‘Challenge’.
